upcoming conversation
“From Reactive to Regulated: Parenting from a Steady Place”
8:30am–10:00am Friday September 11
with Flownel’s Coffee Cart (complimentary lattes!)
Parenting can push every button we have. When our child is melting down, refusing, arguing, shutting down, or simply not responding the way we hoped, it’s easy to become reactive ourselves.
Join us for coffee and conversation with Daystar therapists, Amy Jacobs, Tommy Hart, and Sherman Bucher, about what happens to us as parents in those difficult moments—and how we can learn to respond from a steadier place.
Drawing from attachment, nervous system regulation, and years of working with children, teens, and families, this talk will explore why our children’s big emotions can trigger big emotions in us, what it actually means to be a “regulated” parent, and how our own regulation can change the tone and trajectory of challenging moments.
You’ll leave with a better understanding of what’s happening beneath the behavior, simple strategies for getting yourself grounded when you’re triggered, and practical ways to move from “How do I make my child stop?” to “What does my child need from me right now?”
Because the goal isn’t to become a perfectly calm parent.
It’s to become a parent who can find their way back to steady.
